DAR ES SALAAM, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- At least four passengers were killed and 42 others were injured after their bus veered off the road and overturned in Tanzania's western region of Kigoma, police said on Thursday.
Martin Ottieno, the Kigoma Regional Police Commander, said the accident occurred on Wednesday at 10 p.m. local time.
He said the bus was plying between Mwanza and Kigoma regions through Shinyanga and Tabora regions.
Ottieno said there were three men and one woman among the dead who were yet to be identified.
"All the 42 survivors are receiving treatment at Kigoma Regional Hospital and 12 of them are in critical condition," said Ottieno.
He said the cause of the accident was speeding, which made the bus driver to lose control at a sharp corner.
