TUNIS, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will pay an official visit to Tunisia on Jan. 25-26 at the invitation of his Tunisian counterpart Khemais Jhinaoui, said a diplomatic statement of Tunisia on Thursday.
"It is a follow-up visit to evaluate the results of Jhinaoui's last visit to Moscow in March 2016," the statement said.
"Lavrov's visit will be an opportunity to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Tunisia and Russia in areas such as tourism, trade, investment, culture, transportation and finance," it added.
The two foreign ministers will also discuss about the upcoming seventh session of the Tunisian-Russian High Joint Commission scheduled for 2019.
The cooperation between Tunisia and Russia in the field of tourism continues to experience a particular development in recent years, reflected by the number of Russian tourists visiting Tunisia reaching over 599,000 in 2018.
