LOS ANGELES, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- Two campers were rescued Wednesday by a helicopter after being snowbound in a vehicle on a Southern California mountain for two weeks.

The snowbound couple, both in their mid-30s, together with their dogs, ran out of food and water when camping and got stranded on Alamo Mountain, north of downtown Los Angeles.

The strong storms as well as a fallen pine tree blocked the couple's way forward. When they hiked to an area with better cellphone reception, they called 911.

The campers were found sunburned and dehydrated but both in good condition, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Charles Miranda was quoted by the Associated Press as saying.

Miranda assumed that the couple had underestimated weather forecasts. The couple is now at home.
