Dollar changes hands around 109 yen line in early trade in Tokyo

TOKYO, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar changed hands around the 109 yen line in early deals in Tokyo on Thursday, largely in line with its levels in New York overnight.

As markets opened here, the dollar was quoted at 108.97-98 yen compared with 108.99-109.09 yen in New York, and 109.31-33 yen at 5 p.m. on Wednesday in Tokyo.

The euro, meanwhile, fetched 1.1484-1485 dollars and 125.14-18 yen against 1.1474-1484 dollars and 125.12-22 yen in New York, and 1.1431-1432 dollars and 124.95-99 yen in late Wednesday afternoon trade in Tokyo.
