MANILA, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- The Philippine police has cleared four men of their involvement in the Jan. 27 twin blasts that hit a cathedral on the island of Jolo in the southern Philippine province of Sulu, police said on Thursday.
The four men, including a student and a teacher, surfaced before the police on Wednesday to clear their names after authorities released a footage from a close circuit television showing them fleeing moments after the two improvised bombs exploded inside and outside the church.
Senior Superintendent Bernard Banac, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson, said the four were cleared and eventually released on Wednesday night after proving to the police investigators their innocence.
Moreover, Banac said the police found that no one of the four matched the identity of Kamah, the authorities tagged as the one who carried out the deadly attack. Kamah is allegedly the brother of slain Abu Sayyaf leader Surakan Ingog who was killed by the police in a raid in August last year.
The hunt for Kamah continues, according to authorities.
