THE HAGUE, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Around 800 "Yellow Vest" protesters demonstrated in Maastricht, Netherlands on Saturday, with one demonstrator getting wounded by fireworks.

The protesters walked a six-kilometer route through the city, carrying national flags and anti-EU banners.

The protest was peacefully despite smoke bombs and fireworks lit by some protesters. The wounded person was treated by ambulance personnel with a minor injury. A 63-year-old man was arrested by police for insulting a policeman.

The demonstrators in yellow vests, the name drawn from French protesters, in Maastricht demanded Netherlands to exit the European Union just like the United Kingdom. Some demonstrators from Belgium, Germany and France were also present.

The Treaty of Maastricht was signed in this southern Dutch city, establishing further European integration. Protesters said that was a key reason for Saturday's demonstration.
