GAZA, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- A Palestinian demonstrator died on Sunday of his wounds sustained during clashes that broke out between hundreds of Palestinian protesters and Israeli soldiers in northern Gaza Strip on Tuesday, medics said.
Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of the health ministry in Gaza, told reporters that Ahmad Abu Jabal, 30 years old from northern Gaza Strip, was critically wounded last Tuesday by an Israeli army gunshot that hit his chest.
Al-Qedra said that Abu Jabal died of his serious wounds on Sunday afternoon at Shiffa Hospital in Gaza City.
On Tuesday afternoon, dozens of Palestinian protestors joined the weekly maritime rallies in northern Gaza Strip, close to the border with Israel, said eyewitnesses, adding that clashes broke out in the area with the Israeli soldiers.
The protesters usually send 30 to 40 small fishing boats and sail off the northern coast of the Gaza Strip close to the Israeli coast.
After reaching the border, they would rally on the beach of northern Gaza Strip, close to the border with Israel.
The activity of maritime rallies had stopped for three weeks due to cold weather and heavy rains.
