BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah on Monday sent a message of goodwill to the Chinese people ahead of the traditional Chinese lunar New Year celebrations.

After receiving credentials in Istana Nurul Iman from Yu Hong, the newly-appointed Chinese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, the Sultan asked the Chinese ambassador to convey his sincere greetings to the Chinese leaders and the Chinese people.

The Sultan said that Brunei Darussalam attaches great importance to the traditional and friendly relations with China, and looks forward to making common efforts with the Chinese side to further promote bilateral relations and develop practical cooperation between the two countries.

Yu Hong said the relations between China and Brunei are currently in its best shape and as the Chinese ambassador to Brunei, she will make her best efforts to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries to further consolidate the strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries and enhance traditional friendship between the two peoples.

Yu Hong arrived in Bandar Seri Begawan to assume her office on Jan. 16, 2019.
