SOFIA, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Bulgarian authorities have neutralized a seven-member organized criminal group responsible for illegal acquisition and sale of weapons, and seized 22 firearms, the Interior Ministry said in a statement on Monday.
In searches of nine locations, the police seized 16 pistols, five rifles, one carbine and about 1,000 bullets, the statement said.
The police also found a lathe with which the serial numbers of the weapons were erased, the statement said.
Three of the gang members have already been convicted of illicit trade in firearms, it said.
The investigation is ongoing, the ministry added.
