HOUSTON, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- U.S. crude oil inventories increased in the week ending Feb. 1, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said in a report on Wednesday.
According to the Weekly Petroleum Status Report, U.S. commercial crude oil inventories, excluding those in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, increased by 1.3 million barrels from the previous week.
At 447.2 million barrels, U.S. crude oil inventories were about 6 percent above the five-year average for this time of year.
In the previous week ending Jan. 25, EIA reported a build of 900,000 barrels of U.S. crude oil inventories.
According to EIA, total motor gasoline inventories in the country increased by 500,000 barrels last week, about 5 percent above the five-year average for this time of year.
Finished gasoline inventories decreased while blending components inventories increased last week.
Distillate fuel inventories decreased by 2.3 million barrels last week, about 4 percent below the five-year average for this time of year.
