COLOMBO, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- Several star rated hotels and restaurants in Sri Lanka's capital Colombo launched the Chinese food festival this week in celebration of the Chinese Lunar New Year which starts from Feb. 5.
Hotels and restaurants were decorated with traditional Chinese decorations such as lanterns, dragons and the Chinese national flag in order to promote Chinese cuisine among the locals and foreign tourists.
Some of the hotels which launched the food festival were the Shangri La, Hilton, Kingsbury, Cinnamon Grand and Cinnamon Lakeside, all located in Colombo.
Celebrations will go on till Feb. 10.
Some of the most popular dishes which will be available at the Chinese food festival is the Beijing Roast Duck, more popularly known as "Peking Duck" and Chinese-style seafood such as crabs, different types of fish, prawns and lobsters.
The delicacies will be prepared by Chinese chefs.
"We love Chinese food, especially what is on offer at the Chinese food festivals. China has so much rich history and we can learn a lot about it through this food," Samantha Perera, a customer at the food festival said.
