SUVA, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Fijian government on Friday urged the society to help solve youths problems facing the country, including teenage pregnancies, unemployment and illiteracy.
Fiji's permanent secretary for Youth and Sports Maritino Nemani who opened the Youth and Sports stakeholders Workshop in Nadi on Friday, urged participants to seek solutions that would address the varying needs of Fijian youths.
He said education of all youths should start at home.
"Schools are for academia but the foundation of youths starts at home. And the role of stakeholders is a critical one because you have something to offer society and our youths."
Nemani noted that the Fijian government could not work alone and needed the input of stakeholders, particularly as the majority of Fijians were aged below 40.
Fijian Youth coordinator Manasa Nagatalevu said much had been deliberated upon at the workshop, with a host of initiatives and issues identified by youth representatives. Enditem
