JAKARTA, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian horse rider Muhammad Akbar Kurniawan secured a gold medal at the Longines Master-HKJC Asian Junior Challenge 2019 in Hong Kong, China, Indonesian horse riding association
on announced on Monday.
The medal was obtained in a 100cm jumping class in the tournament at the weekend, Indonesian horse riding association said in a statement.
Chinese Taipei's rider Lin Tsu-Yen took the second place and the third place went to host rider Vincent Capol.
Kurniawan did not make any mistake during his debut, but Lin made one mistake.
"This championship is very good, I could perform along with world class athletes," said Kurniawan.
The first HKJC (Hong Kong Jockey Club ) Asian Junior Challenge (100cm) and HKJC Asian Junior grand Prix (110cm) was held from February 16 to 17, 2019.
The sport event aims to nurture young talents in the region and was supported by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and sponsored by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
