JERUSALEM, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- Arab-Israeli women employees earn less than 50 percent of the national average wages, according to a report published Monday by the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission at Israel's Ministry of Labor.

The report noted that Arab-Israeli women are the most discriminated in the state's employment market.

In the computer manufacturing industry, for example, Arab-Israeli women without an academic degree make only 37 percent of the average salary of Jewish-Israeli workers without a degree.

The largest gap in the report was recorded in the textile industry, in which Arab-Israeli women earn only 29 percent of the average wages of Jewish-Israeli workers in this field.

The employment rate of Arab women in Israel without an academic education is only 35 percent.

The report also said that, like Arab women, Jewish-Israeli women of Ethiopian descent earn less than 50 percent of the average national wage.

In addition, the national average salary of women in Israel stands at 59 percent compared with men's wages.

Israel's President, Reuven Rivlin, said that "there is still much work ahead of us regarding the huge gaps in wages and employment opportunities of Arab society, of Ethiopian Israelis, and of the Jewish-Orthodox sector. These gaps are much more severe when it comes to women. This is a reality we cannot accept."
