CAIRO, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- Al-Azhar, the highest Islamic learning institution for Egypt and the Sunni Muslim world, condemned on Monday a deadly suicide attack on a mosque in Nigeria.
In a statement, al-Azhar called for international efforts to eradicate terrorism and offered condolences to the people and government of Nigeria.
Three suicide bombers killed 11 people and wounded 15 others after attacking a mosque in Maiduguri in northeastern Nigeria, according to police.
The attack happened hours after the African nation delayed a general election scheduled for the same day.
