CHANGCHUN, North China, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- China's figure skating star Jin Boyang dominated the free skate at the national championships on Sunday and won the men's event.
Jin, danced to the music of Hable con ella, landed two quad jumps and fell once, collecting a total of 264.36 points to win the national title.
"I failed in one of my jumps," said Jin. "I reduced the difficulty in the free skate. Normally I have four quads but this time I only planned to have three."
Jin, who finished fourth at the Pyeongchang Games last year and just took a silver at the Four Continents Figure Skating Championships this month, will take part in the World Championships in Japan next month.
"I will try my best," he said. "Literally I don't take them (other figure skaters) as my rivals. I compete against myself. All I have to do is to perform my best."
In the pairs, Four Continents bronze medalists Peng Cheng/Jin Yang delivered a perfect free skate and collected 229.63 points in total to win the event.
"We completed a full long program," said Peng. "We landed all the jumps. I am satisfied with our performance today. Next we will improve the quality of our movements."
Peng/Jin will participate the World Championships in March with Olympic runners-up Sui Wenjing/Han Cong, who skipped the event to prepare for the Worlds.
Earlier on Sunday, 12-year-old girl An Xiangyi won the lady's competition by 177.90 points, while her teammate Chen Hongyi trailed in 153.92.
In the ice dance, Chen Hong/Sun Zhuoming won the gold in 172.86.
