NEW DELHI, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a holy dip on Sunday in the ongoing Kumbh Mela in northern state of Uttar Pradesh.
Kumbh Mela is a congregation held in the Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh at the confluence of three rivers - the Ganga, the Yamuna and the mystical Saraswati.
TV footages showed Modi wearing black robes and taking a holy dip while folding hands and offering prayers.
"Had the good fortune of taking a holy dip at the Kumbh. Prayed for the well being of 130 crore Indians," he tweeted.
An event that takes place every four year, the Kumbh Mela began on Jan. 15 and will continue till March 4 this year. Millions of devotees and tourists are expected to visit Kumbh and take a holy dip during the 49-day event.
