RABAT, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Britain's Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle visited Sunday educational facilities in the rural town of Asni near Morocco's central city of Marrakech to show support to girls' education and promote gender equality.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Grand Atlas secondary school, where they met young students and attended a football match between two mixed teams of the secondary school.

During this visit, the British Ambassador to Morocco Thomas Reilly announced that British sport equipment will be donated to this secondary school.

The couple also visited Dar Asni 1 and 3, two boarding schools, which are run by NGO "Education for All" and host teenage rural girls whose families cannot afford their education.

On this occasion, Prince Harry awarded Michael McHugo, Education for All's founder, with an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) award for his efforts to promote gender equality in Morocco.

Harry and his wife arrived on Saturday night in the Moroccan city of Casablanca for a three-day visit to the North African country.
