TOKYO, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Tuesday, tracking gains on Wall Street overnight, with exporter issues getting a boost from a comparatively softer yen against the U.S. dollar.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 52.14 points, or 0.24 percent, from Monday to 21,580.37.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 1.34 points, or 0.08 percent, to 1,622.21.
Pharmaceutical, chemical, and warehousing and harbor transportation service stocks comprised notable gainers in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
