MANILA, March 1 (Xinhua) -- Six people were killed in a car crash in Zamboanguita town in Negros Oriental province in the central Philippines on Friday morning, police said.
Local police said the victims, including five students, died when the commuter van they were riding collided with a cargo truck.
The driver apparently lost control of the van and swerved to the opposite lane, causing it to collide with an oncoming truck, according to police.
The victims were rushed to a hospital, but some of them did not survive.
Five other students and a teacher were injured in the crash.
The driver of the van was under police custody, as the investigation is ongoing.
