NAIROBI, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's tourism industry stakeholders will travel to Germany next week to showcase the country's rich diversity of tourism products, officials said on Saturday.

Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) is leading the delegation for the five-day International Tourism Bourse (ITB) in Berlin from March 6-10.

Betty Radier, KTB chief executive officer expressed her optimism that the current growth in tourism numbers will be enhanced, with a number of marketing strategies that KTB has put in place, besides government incentives.

According to KTB, the sector is upbeat after it recorded a 2 million mark in international arrivals last year, the highest arrivals ever.

In 2018, Kenya received 2.03 million international tourists, representing a growth of 37.33 percent compared to 2017, according to KTB.

Revenues from tourism were 157.34 billion shillings (about 1.57 billion U.S. dollars) in 2018, a 31.2 percent growth compared to 2017's earnings of 1.19 billion dollars.

"Under our National Tourism Blueprint (NTB) 2030, we shall maximize our country's tourism potential through innovative marketing, product diversification, infrastructure development and investments in hospitality," said Najib Balala, tourism and wildlife cabinet secretary who will be leading the delegation.

The German market remains among one of Kenya's key tourist source markets. Kenya recorded 78,388 arrivals of Germans last year, a growth of 59.2 percent from 2017.
