KUWAIT CITY, March 5 (Xinhua) -- Kuwaiti Army Head of Armament and Equipment Authority Anwar Al Mazidi said on Tuesday that the purchase of Russian tanks was not cancelled, but postponed.
During the reception organized by Russian embassy on the occasion of the Defender of the Fatherland Day, the Kuwaiti top army officer hailed the cooperation between Kuwaiti and Russian armies in various domains.
Kuwait was supposed to sign a contract to purchase T-90MS/MSK tanks, and the contract has been delayed instead of being cancelled, said the Kuwaiti official.
He also called the relations between Kuwait and Russia as "historical," speaking highly of the visit by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to Kuwait.
"Such a visit will further boost the bilateral ties between Kuwait and Russia," he added.
