BEIJING, March 7 (Xinhua) -- Chinese police detained 83,668 suspects and cracked 57,519 cases during a 10-month crackdown on cybercrime launched in February 2018, the Ministry of Public Security said Thursday.
More than 13,000 people were seized for stealing and trading personal information, and more than 2,000 others were arrested for hack attacks, said the ministry at a press conference.
Police nationwide also intensified the crackdown on illegal activities by paid online ghostwriters, who flood online platforms and post biased comments, rumors or disinformation for payment. Some criminal rings were found to have blackmailed others with malicious online posts.
