Former vice governor of Guizhou stands trial for graft

NANJING, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Pu Bo, former vice governor of Guizhou Province, stood trial for taking bribes Thursday at a court in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province.

Pu was charged with accepting money and property worth over 71.26 million yuan (10.7 million U.S. dollars) personally or through others between 1998 and 2018.

According to the indictment, Pu allegedly took advantage of his positions to seek benefits for others in business restructuring, project contracting and personnel promotions between 1999 and 2017.

In his final statement, Pu pleaded guilty and expressed remorse.

The trial was attended by more than 50 people including legislators, political advisors, press and members of the public.

The verdict will be announced at a later date.
