RIO DE JANEIRO, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Brazil said Tuesday it signed an agreement with the Chilean government to jointly fight against corruption.
The agreement will help the two countries in exchanging information on assets and financial transactions for corruption investigations.
Brazil's Office of the Comptroller General (CGU), the country's main anti-graft enforcement agency, and the Chilean Presidency's Secretariat also vowed to exchange successful experiences, and hold conferences and joint trainings regarding anti-corruption efforts.
The agreement was reached during Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro's visit to Chile last week.
During his Chile visit, Brazil also joined other South American countries, including Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Argentina, Paraguay and Guyana, in announcing the creation of the Forum for Progress of South America (Prosur).
According to its founders, Prosur, which will replace the South American Union (Unasur), intends to seek the "integration and strengthening of the region."
