BUDAPEST, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Two Budapest-based restaurants, Stand and Babel, have been added to the list of Michelin-starred restaurants in Hungary, local media reported here on Thursday.
"Borkonyha, Costes and Costes Downtown retained their stars, while Onyx still boasts two stars of the prestigious Michelin guide," the Hungarian news agency MTI reported, listing the restaurants already selected by Michelin.
On Wednesday, the 2019 edition of the Michelin Guide's "Main Cities of Europe" was released in Vienna. The guide lists the best restaurants in 38 European cities.
Stand and Babel in Budapest are both known for their modern cuisine, according to Michelin.
"A smart, formal restaurant with contemporary monochrome styling and a kitchen on view behind glass. The cooking is modern, but the unfussy dishes have their heart in the Hungarian classics; the confident kitchen taking a just a handful of top quality ingredients and allowing them to shine," the Michelin Guide said about Stand on its official website.
Besides its cuisine, the guide also praised Babel for being a stylish, intimate restaurant run with a real passion by the owner and his young team: "Cooking is innovative and flavorful: dishes on the Babel Classic menu are informed by the chef's Transylvanian heritage and each has a story to tell, while dishes on the Tasting Menu are more ambitious, with some playful elements."
