BUENOS AIRES, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Ignacio Fernandez scored two first-half goals as River Plate continued their strong finish to the Argentina Superliga season with a 2-0 victory away to Talleres de Cordoba on Saturday.
Fernandez slotted in the opener following a Lucas Pratto through ball and the 29-year-old struck again less than 10 minutes later with a curling free-kick.
River are now unbeaten in 12 Superliga matches dating back to January 27.
The reigning Copa Libertadores champions are fourth in Argentina's 26-team top-flight standings, 10 points behind leaders Racing Club with just one round remaining in the season.
In other matches on Saturday, Independiente won 2-1 at Velez Sarsfield, Godoy Cruz also beat Patronato 2-1 at home and Gimnasia drew 1-1 at San Lorenzo.
