ADEN, Yemen, April 2 (Xinhua) -- A roadside bomb killed at least two Yemeni security soldiers while a number of others were injured in the southeastern province of Hadramout on Tuesday morning, a local government official told Xinhua.
A security forces' vehicle struck an improvised explosive device planted on track by unknown terrorist elements in Seiyun district of Hadramout, said the official in Hadramout on condition of anonymity.
The explosion targeted the vehicle carrying members of the newly-recruited security forces in Hadramout, the official said.
The injured were evacuated to a nearby public hospital in Seiyun district. No group claimed responsibility for the bomb attack yet.
Other security sources said that "unknown gunmen looted the soldiers' weapons, shot them after the bomb explosion, and then fled the area."
The Yemeni security forces backed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a key member of Saudi-led coalition, cordoned off the area for investigations.
The government-controlled southeastern province of Hadramout and other areas in Yemen are witnessing growing activities of extremist organizations that take advantage of the conflicts in the impoverished Arab country.
