BANGKOK, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Eleven Myanmar nationals passed out in a cramped van in central Thailand en route to Mae Sot district on Wednesday.

Ten males and two females and a one-year-old infant, all being Myanmar nationals, fainted in the cramped van which they had hired to take them to the Thai-Myanmar border district on Asia Highway in Manorom district of Chai Nat province, about 230 kilometers north of Bangkok.

The Thai van driver, identified as Prakiang Thongpichit, called a local rescue team to take his Myanmar passengers, who apparently passed out due to lack of air inside the vehicle, to a nearby hospital.

The air from the ventilating ducts in the passenger cabin might have been blocked up by many luggage items which the Myanmar workers had piled up inside, according to the driver.

They were returning to their home country for the Songkran festival.
