KHARTOUM, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Sudan and Chad on Thursday vowed commitment to working together to achieve peace and stability in the region.
The two sides made the commitment when Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and his Chadian counterpart Idriss Deby held talks at the presidential palace in Khartoum Thursday.
"We have agreed to work together to achieve peace and stability in the two countries and the region," said al-Bashir at a joint press conference after the talks.
He expressed happiness over the level of the two countries' relations, which he said "constitutes a model, particularly with regard to the joint border forces, a pure Sudanese-Chadian experience that played a great role in the stability at the joint border and combating the criminal activities."
Deby, for his part, said that "achieving peace and stability in Sudan achieves peace and stability in Chad and vise versa."
The Chadian president further expressed the two countries' need to put their potentialities together to achieve their aspired goals.
Deby on Thursday arrived in Sudan's capital Khartoum for a one-day official visit.
