KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Two police were injured as a roadside bomb struck a police van in Zhari district of Afghanistan's southern Kandahar province on Friday, provincial government spokesman Aziz Ahmad Azizi said.
According to the official, a mine planted by Taliban militants on a road in Huzimadad area struck the vehicle of a senior local police officer, injuring him and his bodyguard on the spot on Friday afternoon.
The official said investigation is underway.
Taliban militants who are active in the area and largely relying on suicide and roadside bombing haven't commented.
