Bulgaria seizes nearly 60 tons of illegal meat products, milk powder

SOFIA, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Nearly 60 tons of illegal meat products and milk powder were found during an inspection of a dairy company, the Interior Ministry and the National Revenue Agency said in a joint statement on Friday.

The illegal food was found on Wednesday in a company that produces dairy products and sells meat, meat products, milk and dairy products, the statement said.

Inspectors conducted a full review of the company, uncovering some 12,000 kg of meat and sausages with expired shelf life, and 47,375 kg of milk powder without the required origin and storage documents in the company's warehouses in three cities.

The company will face penalties, and the food of unknown origin or expired will be destroyed.
