WINDHOEK, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Namibia's national rugby team, 'The Welwitchias' are scheduled to play about 16 to 19 matches before the Rugby World Cup in Japan, the country's rugby body said on Thursday.
With just under six months to go to the World Cup, Namibia will have their first test at the Cape Town Invitational Tournament in South Africa, where they face the U20 teams from SA, Georgia and Argentina.
Then, they will compete in the SuperSport Rugby Challenge which takes place between April 27 and June 22, said head coach Phil Davies.
"The aim is to give the players a huge amount of confidence going to Japan knowing they are fit and organized to compete against some of the best teams in the world," said Davies.
During the World Cup, Namibia will first play Italy in Pool B alongside defending champions New Zealand, South Africa as well as repechage event winners, Canada.
