Nearly 2,200 triathletes to attend Ironman Worlds qualifying race in Vietnam

HANOI, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Nearly 2,200 triathletes from 50 countries and regions have registered to compete in the Ironman 70.3 World Championship qualifying race in the central Vietnamese city of Da Nang in May.

The triathletes will begin with a 1.9-km ocean swim, followed by a two-loop 90-km bike course, and a 21km out-and-back run course, while amateurs will race with a 750m swim, 20km bike ride, and a 5km run.

The Ironman 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championship, scheduled for May 9-12 in Da Nang, Vietnam, serves as a qualifying race for the 2019 Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Nice, France on September 7-8, with 50 qualifying slots available. It also offers a total prize pot of 75,000 U.S. dollars.
