ULAN BATOR, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia's coal exports increased 15 percent year on year in the first quarter of 2019, local media reported Monday.
The resource-rich Asian country exported a total of 7.8 million tons of coal in the first three months of this year, virtually all to China, the daily newspaper ZGM quoted the country's finance ministry as saying.
Coal is the landlocked country's main export commodity. The country exported a total of 36.5 million tons of coal in 2018, reaching an all-time high.
The country has set a goal to increase coal exports to 40 million tons in the coming years.
