KIEV, April 15 (Xinhua) -- The troops of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) in eastern Ukraine have held a large-scale air defense exercises, Ukraine's Defense Ministry said on Monday.
The Saturday drills involved fighter aircraft as well as military units, which have in their arsenal such anti-aircraft missile systems as Buk-M1, OSA-AKM, Strela-10 and others, the ministry said in a statement, without specifying the location of the exercises.
During the maneuvers, the Ukrainian military worked out the tasks of identifying, escorting, and destroying air targets, the statement said.
The practical launches of missiles were also the part of the drills, it said.
Launched on April 30, 2018, the JFO is a military operation in eastern Ukraine that is aimed at "establishing peace" in the region, where the armed conflict has been underway since April 2014.
