BAGHDAD, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Iraqi President Barham Salih on Monday called for expanding relations with Britain in various fields, according to a statement released by the president's office.
Salih made the comments during a meeting with British Secretary of State for International Trade Liam Fox and his accompanying delegation at the presidential palace in Baghdad's Green Zone.
Salih and Fox reviewed bilateral relations in trade and economy, lauding Britain's support for Iraq in its fight against terrorism.
Fox renewed his country's support for Iraq in different areas, confirming Britain's endeavors to promote economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, the statement read.
Britain is part of the international coalition led by the United States that has carried out airstrikes against the Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria and provided military equipment and training for the Iraqi forces.
