GHAZNI, Afghanistan, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Up to 17 militants have been killed and 20 others have been captured in Afghanistan's Ghazni province, provincial government spokesman Aref Nuri said Thursday.
According to the official, the security forces have been targeting Taliban hideouts and positions in Gilan, Gero and Andar districts since Wednesday afternoon leaving 17 insurgents dead and injuring three others.
In the ongoing operations backed by fighting aircraft, 20 more insurgents have been captured, the official said.
However, the official avoided commenting on the possible casualties of security personnel, saying the operation is going on.
The Taliban militant group has not made a comment on the report yet.
