Israel's exports to China drop 36 pct in Q1

JERUSALEM, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Israeli exports to China decreased by 36 percent in the first quarter of 2019, compared with the same period in 2018, according to a report released Thursday by Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics.

According to the data, Israeli exports to China totaled about 1.81 billion U.S. dollars in the first quarter, down from 2.84 billion dollars a year ago.

Meanwhile, Israeli imports from China rose by 1.8 percent from 2.19 billion dollars in the first quarter of 2018 to 2.23 billion dollars.

The data also showed that Israeli exports to the United States declined by 1.2 percent, while imports from the United States rose by 15 percent in the same period.

Total Israeli exports worldwide reached 16.4 billion dollars in the first quarter of 2019, down 4 percent year on year, while imports gained 1.5 percent to 19.8 billion dollars.
