KABUL, April 20 (Xinhua) -- At least 10 militants were killed by security forces in three Afghan eastern provinces, the command of Afghan special forces said on Saturday.
In Nadir Shah Kot district of Khost province, two Haqqani militants were killed and six others detained after the Afghan National Army Special Operations Corps (ANASOC) conducted an operation on Saturday morning, the corps said in a statement.
As a Taliban-linked group of militants, the Haqqani network mostly operating in eastern provinces and capital Kabul, and has been responsible for many high-profile attacks against security forces.
The arrestees were shifted to an army camp in the region.
Earlier on Saturday, the Afghan Special Forces arrested two Taliban militants in Nawa district of Ghazni province, according to the statement.
Eight Taliban militants were killed by an airstrike conducted by the ANASOC in Sherzad district, of neighboring Nangarhar province late on Friday, the statement added.
There are casualties on the security forces and civilian sides during the raids.
The Afghan security forces, backed by the NATO-led coalition troops, have increased ground and air offensives against militants within the past few months as spring and summer known as the fighting seasons are drawing near in the country.
The militant groups have not made comments on the reports so far.
