BEIJING, April 21 (Xinhua) -- The following are the highlights of China's key education news from the past week:
-- China increases preschool education spending
The Chinese central government has increased financial input for preschool education, from 15 billion yuan (2.2 billion U.S. dollars) in 2018 to 16.85 billion yuan in 2019.
Some 1 billion yuan will be allocated to expand the building of kindergartens in the country's 11 provincial-level regions in 2019, part of an effort to increase preschool education resources, said Lyu Yugang, an official with the Ministry of Education (MOE).
-- China demands more comprehensive 2019 college entrance exam
China's 2019 college entrance exam should test all-around qualities, such as morality, and universities are expected to add a physical exam for independent enrollment in the hope that students would attach more importance to physical training.
The MOE said they would establish a long-term mechanism to provide students from rural or poverty-stricken areas better access to universities.
-- National Museum of China launches postdoc workstation
The National Museum of China has launched a postdoctoral workstation to breed more talents in museology and facilitate studies that serve its development.
Research areas of the workstation will include history, archaeology, museology and cultural relic preservation.
-- China warns schools against students' drowning
The office of the education supervision commission of the State Council on Tuesday issued a warning, asking education administrations and schools nationwide to prevent students from drowning.
The warning was released due to a number of student drownings across the country, as the temperature has been rising and students have been engaging in more outdoor activities.
The office asked educational administrations and schools to remind students of the extreme danger of going into water without permission, and telling them to stay away from dangerous bodies of water. Enditem
