Death toll of Indians in Sri Lanka blasts rises to 5

NEW DELHI, April 22 (Xinhua) -- The death toll of Indian nationals in Sri Lanka blasts has risen to five, Indian Foreign Minster Sushma Swaraj said Monday.

On Sunday, serial blasts rocked Sri Lanka killing 290 and wounding over 500 others.

"We sadly confirm the deaths of the following two individuals in the blasts yesterday, K G Hanumantharayappa and M Rangappa," Swaraj wrote on twitter.

The minister on Sunday confirmed death of three Indian nationals.

The eight bombing ripped through three churches during Easter services, four luxury hotels and a guest house.

Indian government has closed its visa application center,IVS LANKA in Colombo for two days, Monday and Tuesday.

New Delhi strongly condemned the blasts in Sri Lanka.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and conveyed his heartfelt condolences at the loss of innocent lives in the attack.

The Sri Lankan government has announced a curfew and shut down social media.

No group has claimed responsibility for the blasts yet.
