JAKARTA, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Several world champion teams will compete in the 2019 Women's Asia Softball Cup, scheduled to be held here later this month and next month, the association disclosed on Monday.
The Cup, which will be a pre-qualification event for the Olympics, is scheduled to be held from April 30-May 7, said Andika Monoarfa, chairman of the Indonesian baseball and softball association.
"Several world champion teams will take part in the event," Monoarfa said.
He said teams from at least 12 countries and regions, including China and Japan, have registered to participate in the tournament.
The Indonesian team has set a target of fifth position in the championship and will use their participation as a warm up for the forthcoming SEA Games in the Philippines at the end of this year, he said.
