HO CHI MINH CITY, April 23 (Xinhua) -- The Asian Carom Billiards Championship 2019 kicked off here on Tuesday, with well-known cueists from Cambodia, Japan, Jordan, Lebanon, South Korea and Vietnam competeing in the five-day tournament.
A total of 48 cueists, including Cho Jae Ho from South Korea, who is ranked the third in the world, Tran Quyet Chien from Vietnam (6th), Nguyen Quoc Nguyen from Vietnam (9th) and Heo Jung Han from South Korea (12th) are competing at one-cushion and three-cushion categories.
The only woman cueist at the tournament is Sruong Pheavy from Cambodia. She ranked third at the World Championship Ladies Three-Cushion in 2018 in Turkey.
The regional tournament is a good opportunity for Vietnamese leading cueists to prepare for the 2019 Carom Billiard Three-Cushion World Cup slated for May 16-28 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam's General Department of Sports and Physical Training said Tuesday.
