RABAT, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Moroccan security forces have foiled an attempt to smuggle nearly 7 tons of cannabis resin in the city of Casablanca, the interior ministry said Tuesday.
The banned substance was seized on board of a medium-duty truck and two utility vehicles, the statement said, adding that the drug's packaging reveals that it was probably intended to be smuggled by sea.
The security forces arrested the ringleader as well as six other suspects, it said.
The ministry added that an investigation was underway to identify all individuals involved in this operation and if there are any possible links with international criminal networks.
