TOKYO, April 26 (Xinhua) -- Japan's industrial output fell in March from a month earlier, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said in a report Friday.
According to the ministry, industrial output in March declined 0.9 percent from the previous month, with the seasonally adjusted index of output at factories and mines standing at 101.9 against the base of 100 for 2015.
The figure for March follows a 0.7 percent increase logged in February, the ministry's data showed.
The ministry's data set also showed the index of industrial shipments dropped 0.6 percent to 101.6, while inventories were up 1.6 percent to 104.0 in the recording period.
The ministry's survey revealed that looking ahead, manufacturers polled expect industrial output here to rise 2.7 percent in April and 3.6 percent in May.
