BANGKOK, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Nearly 3,000 houses in varied regions of Thailand have been damaged by tropical storms over the last several days.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) reported on Sunday that the current tropical storms, thunderstorms and strong winds have caused damaged to nearly 3,000 houses in 71 districts of 28 provinces throughout the central, northern, northeastern and eastern regions of the country since last Thursday.

The DDPM's rapid rescue and relief units are operating round the clock to help victims and repair the damaged houses. Roof tiles and other materials have been provided by the department for house repairs.

The central region covers Bangkok and outlying provinces where summer's temperature is forecast to rise up to 43 celcius degrees in the next few days.
