MANILA, April 29 (Xinhua) -- At least one woman died in a huge fire that engulfed a condominium building in the Philippine capital Manila around noon on Monday, fire officials said.
The Bureau of Fire Protection in Metro Manila said the woman's torched body was found on the 21st floor of the residential building named Pacific Coast Plaza after the fire.
Initial investigation showed the blaze broke out at 11:52 a.m. local time at the 18th floor and spread to the 21st floor of the condominium in the Manila suburban city of Paranaque.
Black smoke billowed from the upper floors of the building and more than 100 fire trucks were deployed to battle the fire.
The fire was put out more than two hours after it broke out. Firefighters were still combing the gutted floors for possible victims.
The cause of the fire was not known yet.
