BEIJING, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Qian Yin'an, a senior official in northwest China's Shaanxi Province, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and dismissed from public office over serious violations of Party discipline and laws.

Qian was a former member of the Standing Committee of the Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the CPC and secretary-general of the CPC provincial committee, said a statement released Monday by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission.

The investigation found that Qian took advantage of his power in public office to seek personal benefits, it read.

Qian used his positions to help others in promotions or business transactions and accepted money and gifts in exchange.

Qian showed no loyalty or honesty toward the Party and rejected the education and help of the Party organization time and again, the statement said.

He failed to report relevant personal information to the Party as required.

Other offenses include violating the Party's eight-point frugality code, accepting banquets and trips arranged by private business owners, receiving a huge amount of money and gift cards and taking part in gambling activities.

His qualification as delegate to the 19th CPC National Congress has been terminated, according to the statement.

His illicit gains should be confiscated, and his suspected crimes will be transferred to the procuratorate for further investigation and prosecution.
