RIO DE JANEIRO, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Paraguay's Cerro Porteno finished top of their Copa Libertadores group on Tuesday after a 1-1 draw at Club Nacional in Uruguayan capital Montevideo.
Santiago Arzamendia gave the visitors the lead on the stroke of halftime before Rodrigo Amaral netted a 59th-minute equalizer.
The result left the teams tied on 13 points at the top of Group E, with the Asuncion club taking the advantage on goal difference.
In Buenos Aires, defending champions River Plate drew 2-2 at home to Internacional in a result that had no bearing on the final standings in Group A. Internacional, who had already been guaranteed top spot, finished with 14 points while River was second, four points behind.
In other matches on Tuesday, Chile's Palestino won 2-1 at Alianza Lima and Atletico Mineiro secured a 2-1 victory at Zamora FC in Venezuela. Both games had no impact on the knockout phase, with all four teams having failed to qualify.
